Briefly.co.za learned that this season's Absa Premiership has been closely contested as a result of changes made in the way teams interact. Saturday night’s match showed the tight-nature of the season.

Polokwane City had Orlando Pirates staring a home defeat in the eyes within three minutes of normal time as City’s newly signed Dominic Chungwa, put his team ahead in the 19th minute.

The game started eight minutes late due to a goal-net not properly fixed to the post. However the net was quickly tied with some rope by a grounds staff member.

Once it got going, the contest was an exciting show for fans who saw the Bucss try to stamp their authority early. Polokwane, showing no signs of awe on Bucs home ground took the ball calmly off the homes side as they ventured forward, then moving it to their side with confidence and flair..

From a second corner in quick succession, Jabulani Maluleke's delivery found new Zimbabwean signing Chungwa, who announced his PSL arrival with an eye-catching, powerful header past Jackson Mabokgwane.

The visitors’ confidence grew after the goal and one would have been excused for mistaking them for the home side.

Pirates scrambled back fighting for opportunities, Mthokizisi Dube beating Walter Maponyane into the area and seeing a shot blocked.

In the second half Pirates’ attempts to continue with their stronger players faced a wall of calm shape and attacking feet which stole the ball from their attacking players.

They only managed to elicit panic from the visitors when, after a scramble in the area, Shonga's swerving shot from was cleared off the line by Ravhuhali in the 80th.

Finally it was all down to the last minutes when a scrap in the box saw the ball bounce off Thembinkosi Losrch's knees to fellow replacement Foster, who turned and finished into the roof of the net.

Fans of the Premiership were quick to point out on social media on Sunday that Foster was not the only remarkable goal scorer of the weekend. 40-year old Siyabonga Nomvethe, who was playing for Bafana Bafana before Forster was even born in 2000, also scored for his team, Amazulu, winning man of the match for an outing against Supersport United FC.
